Welcome to the Caltech Hiking Society's website. Our goal is to get people from the Caltech/JPL community out onto the trails. Below are the most recent posts. Look at the calendar and upcoming hikes to see what has been planned. The mailing list is also used to send out information about hikes. Feel free to look around and contact us with any questions and/or comments.
Hiking Survey
Submitted by David L on Mon, 02/23/2009 - 01:24Now that our first hike is done, and seeing as everyone who joined the mailing list didn't show up (for which I am glad), I did want to get an idea of what kinds of hikes people are interested in doing. I'd like to ask everyone to fill out this quick survey, which will greatly help me in planning out hikes.
Our First Successful Hike!
Submitted by David L on Mon, 02/23/2009 - 01:06This past Saturday 12 of us hiked up to Inspiration Point via Echo Mountain. We encountered some snow, but it was a great hike and we made a small side trip to Panorama Point as well. I'd like to thank everyone who joined us and hope to see everyone again soon. To everyone who didn't come, I hope you join us on the next hike!
I've posted some photographs on Facebook already, but I haven't had a chance to set up a good photo system for the website. That'll happen this week hopefully.
Echo Mountain and Inspiration Point
We all need some inspiration sometimes...and Inspiration point is just the place to get it. It's considered to have one of the best views of the LA basin. We'll be going up to Echo Mountain first and the proceeding to Inspiration Point. From there, we'll come back, or maybe if people want, walk an extra mile to Panaroma Point which is considered to be the best view of the LA basin. This is also a great trail for history buffs, as we'll see parts of old estates and the old Mt. Lowe railway.

Welcome to the Website!
Submitted by David L on Mon, 02/02/2009 - 14:25Welcome to the start of the website. We'll be using this to post details on upcoming hikes and it will hopefully grow into a resource for everyone who enjoys hiking. There's still plenty of content we want to add, but for now it's better to get out hiking!
